Welcome to Lingoberry. By creating an account or using our service, you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Lingoberry.

1. The Service

Lingoberry is a language-learning web application that provides AI-powered translation exercises and feedback. The service is provided as-is without guarantees of availability, accuracy, or fitness.

2. Accounts

• Registration is invite-only. You must have a valid invitation to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You must provide a valid email address for account verification and password recovery.
• You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.
• One account per person. Do not share your account with others.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Submit content that is hateful, sexually explicit, promotes violence, or is otherwise harmful.
• Attempt to circumvent content moderation, rate limits, or other safety measures.
• Use the service to generate content with illegal purposes.
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
• Interfere with the service's operation or infrastructure.
• Use automated tools to access the service (bots, scrapers, etc.) without permission.

We reserve the right to disable your account if you violate these terms.

4. AI-Generated Content

• Exercise paragraphs and feedback are generated by AI (currently Mistral AI).
• AI-generated content may contain errors. It is provided solely as educational material.
• Your translations and topic choices are sent to our AI provider. See our Privacy Policy.

5. Your Content

• You retain ownership of the translations you write.
• By submitting translations, you grant us a license to store and process them to provide feedback and improve the service.
• We may retain exercise data in anonymised form to improve the service.

6. Availability and Changes

• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time.
• We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
• We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notice.

7. Payments and Subscriptions

• Premium subscriptions are available on a monthly (€7.99/month) or yearly (€59/year) basis.
• Payments are processed by Paddle, who acts as the merchant of record. By subscribing, you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel at any time from your billing portal.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to Premium features until then.
• All prices are inclusive of applicable VAT. Paddle handles VAT collection and remittance on our behalf.

8. Refund Policy

We want you to be satisfied with Lingoberry Premium. Our refund policy is as follows:

• New subscriptions: If you are not satisfied with your Premium subscription, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase by contacting us at hello@lingoberry.app.
• Renewals: We do not offer refunds for subscription renewals. You can cancel before your renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.
• Partial periods: We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods after the 14-day window.
• Refund requests are processed by Paddle within 5–10 business days. To request a refund, email us with your order details.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lingoberry and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland.
